Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What kind of therapist do I need?

The type of therapist you need depends on your situation. At Loom Counseling, PLLC we offer care for clients across the lifespan. We have providers committed to supporting individual therapeutic needs as well as those specialized in support for children, families, and parents. For children, we don’t believe in a “one-size fits all” treatment model. Whether utilizing play therapy, art therapy, trauma-informed therapy, or a combination of modalities, we are committed to finding the approach that best fits your unique family needs. For parents facing everyday parenting challenges, navigating active separation/divorce, or seeking co-parenting support, we are here to help. If you’re unsure, our team can talk with you about your goals and recommend the best fit.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, we are currently not accepting insurance. Our clinicians charge a self pay rate of $200 for an intake session and $150 for each session. We recognize the cost of therapy can cause barriers for many people and are happy to file out of network claims on your behalf for potential reimbursement depending on your specific insurance plan. If you or your family are experiencing financial challenges, please talk to your clinician specifically about potential sliding scale and pro bono options.

What is play therapy?

Play therapy is a form of therapy designed specifically for children. Due to natural limitations in a child’s developmental abilities, children often express themselves best through natural play where appropriate verbiage or cognitive ability is not yet developed enough to effectively engage in traditional talk therapy models. Therapists use toys, art, games, and role play to engage your child in developing emotional awareness, work through potential trauma responses, and develop age appropriate coping skills. Play therapy creates a safe and supportive environment where children can express themselves freely and begin healing.

What is outpatient psychotherapy?

Outpatient psychotherapy is the level of care where you or your child receive therapy services without hospitalization or inpatient treatment. Sessions are scheduled on a regular basis, determined by your unique needs. Our providers utilize evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), as well as a wide range of other modalities catered to your specific therapeutic needs. Outpatient therapy allows individuals and families to continue daily life while receiving ongoing support with a focus on client autonomy in the treatment process.

Do you do court mandated therapy?

Yes! Loom Counseling, PLLC provides court-mandated therapy for individuals and families. Whether required for co-parenting, divorce, or another matter, we work collaboratively to meet court requirements while supporting your growth and wellbeing. Our therapeutic conciliation specialist, Tara Pawlyk, MSW, LCSW is actively engaged in the family law circuit to stay up to date on the latest policies and treatment methods to best support you, both outside and inside the courtroom.
